Breaking it Down

Nolin RECC

Here’s how it works. We calculate your electric rate based on usage, measured in kilowatt hours (kWh), each month. The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) approves the kWh rate to ensure member-owners pay a fair price for their electric service. Nolin periodically reviews the cooperative’s operating costs to determine if the current kWh rate is sufficient. If, after careful examination, a change is deemed necessary, the cooperative formally requests rate change approval from the PSC. You also may notice on your bill a fuel adjustment charge. The adjustment is based on the costs related to generating your electricity. Fuel adjustments may appear as either credits or charges to your monthly billing statement. Clean Air Action. Nolin RECC and other member cooperatives of the East Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) are doing everything we can to ensure that the environment is bright and clear for Kentucky. EKPC, the wholesale generator of power for Nolin, is using technology for cleaner air and a healthier environment. The Public Service Commission approved an environmental surcharge for energy providers to share the cost of environmentally-friendly technology with members or customers. You will notice the environmental surcharge as a small addition to your monthly bill. Nolin RECC is proud to provide reliable and affordable energy to our member-owners, while operating in an environmentally-friendly manner. We want to invest in you and in your future—and we think concern for the environment is an investment that will pay dividends for Kentucky.
