| This cool dude is 4-year-old Simon Vaughn. He celebrated
the 70th Nolin RECC annual meeting at John Hardin High
School with his parents, Mike and Cindy Vaughn of Elizabethtown,
and his six siblings. |
Rain may have kept the inflatables deflated at the Nolin
RECC annual meeting, but it didn’t keep co-op members
and friends from attending the event on June 13, at John
Hardin High School. Another record was set after 1,461 co-op
members registered during the evening. It’s estimated that more
than 4,000 people attended the meeting.
This year’s meeting was full of special anniversaries—it
marked the 70th membership meeting for Nolin and the 10th anniversary of Touchstone Energy. The meeting was also a
special date for former Nolin director Bob Wade and his wife, Ella
Mae. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary the
following day.
The business session of the meeting included the important
announcement of Nolin director elections. Two board members
were re-elected o the board: David P. Brown of Hodgenville and
A. L. “Buddy” Rosenberger of Rineyville.
The main gym at John Hardin High School was nearly packed
with family, friends, and neighbors as they gathered to hear the
evening’s featured entertainment, Mike Snider and his string
band. And earlier in the evening, Rick Arnold sang as he airbrushed
pictures. Both artists lifted the spirits of everyone in the
crowd.
Children and adults were presented with free portraits by artist
Denny Whalen and his assistant. Prizes galore, food, and even
a health fair awaited several thousand who turned out for the
Nolin RECC annual meeting.
Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting. And for those
who did not attend, make plans to join us next year!
