A little rain early in the day didn’t dampen the spirits of about 5,000 that attended the 72nd Nolin RECC annual meeting June 11 at John Hardin High School. If anything, the brief shower brought cooler air to those playing outside the air-conditioned school. Records show 1,265 Nolin members registered at the meeting. Entertainment began early in the evening with a comedy act from Pino and her trained dog, Bonzer. Caricaturist Denny Whalen drew crowds of people as they lined up for a free portrait. And later, the legendary Leroy Van Dyke sang some of his wellknown songs like Walk On By and the famous Auctioneer song.
